October 2008- Feeding the Needy

Project ARK fed about 150 homeless and otherwise needy people on Saturday, October 25 in Miller Park in downtown Chattanooga. There were ten of us who participated. We met at the church at 10am and prepared 165 sack lunches. Each lunch bag contained a ham & cheese sandwich, an apple or banana (the bananas were the most popular!), peanut butter crackers, and a bottle of water (donated by Publix!). Before we left the church, we prayed for those that we would be serving.
Once we arrived at the park, the hungry folks came quickly from all directions. It didn't take long to give away all of the lunches. We then hung around a while to talk and pray with several of the folks. Everyone received a blessing. FYI- The City requires a permit ($25) for any activity such as this conducted in the park.
